A Fluffy Pomeranian Puppy and a Pony Shared One Water Bowl

On a cool stone patio, a cream-colored Pomeranian puppy and a gray-brown shaggy pony drink from the same shiny metal bowl. The puppy's fluffy tail curls over his back and his small pink tongue laps at the water, while the pony's long forelock hangs as she drinks beside him. Rubber boots, a watering can and a basket sit near the door behind them.

We could call the pony Clover and the puppy Nugget. The bowl is almost as wide as Nugget is long, and Clover has to be careful to drink politely and not splash him. Both seem very focused on the simple joy of a cool sip.

Pomeranian puppies are tiny, spirited dogs with a thick double coat that needs regular brushing and a lot of attention. They are confident and talkative, so early training helps them learn manners. A shared bowl is a sweet sight, but a pony drinks a large amount of water each day, so ponies and dogs ideally have their own clean bowls. Wash them often, and keep water fresh and cool, especially in warm weather. Dogs should not drink from puddles or stagnant troughs, which can carry germs. If you notice either animal drinking far more than usual, mention it to your vet.

Nugget and Clover share the bowl politely, and the water looks wonderful.
