A Tabby and Old Gus Watched Every Raindrop Run Down the Glass
Raindrops stream down the window glass, and two friends are watching the world get wet from the dry side of the pane. A brown tabby with a long, fluffy coat sits upright on the sill with her green eyes fixed on the garden. Beside her on the woven mat, a tortoise stretches his neck high, head tilted up toward the glass. Beyond the window, rain-dark trees and a grey sky blend together.
Rainy days can be a good time to give pets enrichment indoors. Cats love watching the world from windows, and a perch gives them entertainment. Tortoises, by contrast, tend to be less active in cold, wet weather and need a warm, dry spot. Make sure the floor near a window is not drafty or chilly. If you keep a tortoise indoors, provide proper heat and lighting, and ask your reptile vet about care during wet seasons. A rainy afternoon is also a quiet time to bond with your pets.
Let's call the tortoise Gus. The two of them look like old friends who have shared many rainy days. The tabby's tail curls around her paws, and Gus watches the droplets chase each other down. Neither of them needs to go out in the wet. They are warm, dry, and together, with nothing to do but watch. The rain keeps falling, and they keep watching.
