The Plaid Rug on the Grass Was Only Meant for One Nap
A woven plaid rug sits on the warm grass, and two sleepers have discovered it. A gray Exotic Shorthair lies curled with her flat face tucked down, eyes shut in total contentment. The golden puppy, Biscuit, nestles right against her back with his nose touching her fur. Late sunlight spreads across the yard, a clay pot of flowers sits near the fence, and the whole scene is bathed in golden light.
Exotic Shorthairs are known for their plush coats and sweet, round faces. They are often calm, which makes them a fine match for a relaxed puppy. Their thick fur sheds, so regular brushing keeps their coat healthy and cuts down on hairballs.
Resting outdoors on a rug can be lovely, but check the weather and the ground. Rugs and blankets that sit in the sun can get hot, and damp grass may chill a small puppy. Keep a bowl of water near the spot, and make sure your yard is safely fenced. Young puppies should not have much outdoor time until their vet says they have had their vaccines.
As the light fades, the Exotic has no plans to move. She has her rug, her puppy, and a warm evening breeze, and that is plenty. It is a sweet ending to a long, warm day in the yard. The puppy's breathing is slow and even, and the cat's whiskers barely twitch.
