A Tabby Cat Hitched a Ride Across the Yard on a Pug's Back
Some animals walk, and some animals get a lift. A black Pug trots across the lawn with his curly tail and wrinkled face, looking straight ahead and carrying a very important passenger. A brown tabby American Shorthair sits tall on his back with her paws balanced and her eyes scanning the yard. A blue plastic bucket, a pair of boots, and a garden hose lie scattered around the grass, and a wooden fence runs along the edge.
Pugs are small, sturdy dogs with flat faces and a famously affectionate nature. They love company and are often clownish and playful. Because their short noses make breathing harder, they can overheat easily, so keep walks calm and stay out of the midday sun.
American Shorthairs are adaptable, easygoing cats, and they're good at making themselves comfortable in just about any setting. A cat who is riding a dog is most likely a confident one, who trusts her friend completely. Still, it is smart to keep an eye on things, so that neither pet gets uncomfortable or startled.
The Pug seems to take his job seriously. He carries his cargo with pride, and the cat looks as if she's enjoying the view. Whether they are headed to the fence or the porch, they look like the happiest traveling duo in the neighborhood. It is hard to say who is more pleased with the arrangement.
