The Garden Inspectors Arrived Right on Time, Whiskers First

AI imagenorwegian forest catpuppygarden

Rows of baby carrots and ruffled kale leaves stretch across the raised bed, and two inspectors have arrived. A silver Norwegian Forest Cat, with a thick mane and a plume of a tail, sits with her ears forward and her green-gold eyes sweeping the plants. Waffles the puppy lies nose-down next to a kale plant, sniffing the damp soil with his ears hanging loose. A blue watering can and a garden shed wait in the background.

Gardens are fascinating to pets, but a few plants can be harmful. Lilies are very dangerous for cats, and plants such as onions, garlic, chives and rhubarb leaves can be a problem for both cats and dogs. Fertilizers, slug bait and compost can also be harmful if eaten. Before you let a pet explore your garden, check which plants are safe, and keep any chemicals locked away. Norwegian Forest Cats are strong climbers and hardy outdoor-loving cats, so a securely fenced area or supervised time is ideal. A puppy who digs may need a spot of his own to dig, away from the vegetable bed.

For today, the two of them are just polite visitors, and the carrots are safe. The harvest will have to wait while the garden committee finishes its inspection. Later, once the garden has been fully reviewed, they will probably retire to the shade for a well-earned rest.
