A Frenchie and a Calf Sat Among the Sunflowers Until the Lights Came On

AI imagefrench bulldogcalfsunflowers

Tall sunflowers crowd the edge of the field, and string lights glow along a wire fence. A cream French Bulldog sits upright with his big bat ears standing up and his face turned toward the calf. Clover lies in the grass beside him with her white face tilted, her pink nose gleaming and her eyes bright. The sky behind them is soft gray and gold, as if the day is deciding whether to call it a night.

French Bulldogs are indoor-loving dogs who enjoy being close to their people, so an outing to the field is a treat. They overheat easily because of their short noses, so on warm evenings they do best with shade, water and a slow pace. Sunflowers are generally considered safe for dogs, although chewing on any plant can upset a stomach. Check for burrs and ticks after time in tall plants and fields, and ask your vet about the right protection for your area. A calm evening outdoors with a friend is a lovely way to end a day.

The Frenchie and the calf look like two old friends waiting for a sunset. The sunflowers lean in, the lights flicker, and nothing needs to happen at all. Later the stars will come out above the sunflowers, but for the moment the sky belongs to the two of them and their quiet company.
