A Snow Bengal Peered Down at a Tortoise in the Herb Bed
The garden bed is edged with weathered wood, and a pale snow Bengal is leaning over it with her paw on the rim and her blue-gray eyes fixed on something below. Moss the tortoise sits on the soil among small green herbs and dry leaves, looking up with his domed shell patterned in gold and brown. A fence, some garden plants and a patch of bare ground fill the yard behind them.
Bengal cats are athletic, curious and playful, and they often love to explore and climb. They may be very interested in garden life, so it is wise to check which plants are safe before they start investigating. Tortoises may also nibble on garden plants, but not every plant is safe for them, so ask your vet which are suitable for your species. Avoid fertilizers, slug bait and other chemicals in areas where pets roam. A fenced garden with shade, water and safe plants is a good place for supervised exploring, and it is an easy way to give both pets some fresh air.
The cat looks down at the tortoise with great interest, and the tortoise looks back, completely calm. It is a quiet garden meeting, and the herbs below look safe for now. For now, the herbs are safe, the soil is quiet, and the committee of two is still deciding what to do next.
