A Birman and a Tortoise Peeked Out of the Barn Door Together
The barn door is weathered and half open, and two faces have appeared in the opening. A seal point Birman with a dark mask and blue eyes lies on the threshold with her white paw stretched out and her gaze turned to one side. Moss the tortoise is just emerging from the darkness behind her, his head pushing forward and his shell catching the light. A green lawn and a few trees can be seen in the distance.
Barns and sheds are full of interesting smells, and cats love to investigate them. They can also hold hazards like old nails, chemicals and machinery, so it is wise to check them before letting pets explore. Tortoises like to wander and will often investigate a dark corner or doorway. If your tortoise lives outdoors, make sure he has a safe, secure space with shade and shelter. Birmans are curious and gentle, and they usually enjoy company. A quiet peek out of a doorway is a good way to start the day.
The cat looks out over the lawn, and the tortoise takes his time coming forward. They are in no hurry. The day is waiting outside, and they will join it when they are ready. Once they have seen everything there is to see from the doorway, they will probably step out onto the grass together.
