The Bichon Trotted Across the Yard With a Passenger Nobody Ordered
Here comes the world's smallest parade. A white Bichon Frise is trotting across a grassy backyard with his head high and one paw lifted mid-step, and perched right on his back, as steady as a rider on a very fluffy horse, is Clover the little brown rabbit. Her ears are folded flat against her head and her paws are tucked in. A weathered wooden fence and a terracotta pot sit in the background.
Bichon Frises are small, cheerful dogs with curly white coats that need regular brushing and trimming. They are known for being friendly and playful, and many enjoy being around people and other pets. A Bichon this size, however, is not built to carry anything, and a rabbit is not built to be carried. A rabbit's back and legs are fragile, and a fall could cause real harm. If pets are in the same yard, it is best to let them walk or sit side by side, keep the rabbit near the ground, and supervise them closely. Your vet can offer tips on safe introductions.
As a picture, though, it has a lot of charm. The dog looks proud and a bit surprised by his passenger. Clover looks calm, as if she has done this all along and everyone else is late to the idea. The lawn stretches out ahead of them, the back door is open behind, and for a moment the yard feels like a tiny stage with two very confident stars.
