A brown and white Shih Tzu puppy and a sleepy tan pony rest together in a wicker basket of cream towels. 14 / 22

The Laundry Basket Was Full of Warm Towels. Then Two Sleepyheads Arrived.

The laundry basket has never held anything cozier. Nestled in a heap of soft cream towels, a brown and white Shih Tzu puppy looks up with big dark eyes and a sleepy, slightly squished face, while Pebble the golden pony lies beside it with her muzzle resting on the towels. Behind them, a jumble of jeans, slippers and a laundry bin shows that someone has been busy.

Shih Tzu puppies are small, affectionate and sturdy for their size, with long, silky coats that will need regular brushing. Even as puppies, their hair can fall over their eyes, so many owners use a small topknot or a trim to keep the face clear. Towels are a lovely nest for a puppy, but loose threads can catch on toenails. A pony does not belong in a basket at all, of course, since she needs space, grass and a proper shelter. Ask your vet for ideas on cozy bedding and safe spaces for both.

The sleepy puppy seems to be fighting the urge to close its eyes, while the pony has already surrendered. Their sizes are so different that the basket seems to be stretching to hold them both. It is a pleasing mix of fluff and fur, fabric and wicker. Whoever planned to fold the laundry may just have to put it off for another hour, or two.
