The Quilt Was Pulled Up, and a Puppy and a Pony Refused to Get Up
Pulled up to their chins, a fluffy black Newfoundland puppy and Pebble the little brown pony are tucked into a flowered quilt on a bed that has clearly been well used. The puppy blinks with round, sleepy eyes while the pony stares calmly at the camera with her mane falling over one ear. A lamp, a stack of books, a glass of water, a pair of boots and a jumble of toys fill the bedside area behind them.
Newfoundland puppies are soft, fluffy and sweet, but these gentle giants grow quickly, and a puppy that fits on a bed today may be the size of a sofa within a year. They are known for being calm, affectionate and good with families, though training from an early age is wise. Regular brushing helps manage the thick coat, and shade and fresh water prevent overheating. Ponies are far too large for a bed, so this would stay in the world of dreams. If you have questions about raising a large breed puppy, your vet is the best person to ask.
It feels like the cozy start of a late weekend morning. The covers are rumpled, the light is soft, and nobody has plans. The puppy seems content to lean on his friend, while the pony looks like the gentle, patient type who will lie there as long as needed. If this is how mornings start, a lot of people would happily stay in bed.
