The Shiba Puppy and the Pony Watched the Pond Go Quiet at Dusk
Dusk has settled over the yard, and a warm light glows from a porch lamp in the background. At the grassy edge of a small pond, a red-gold Shiba Inu puppy stands with its ears perked and its eyes bright, looking off to the side. Close beside him, Pebble the shaggy pony is standing with a gentle expression, her speckled nose dipped toward the water and her forelock hanging over her eyes. Lily pads float on the dark water.
Shiba Inu puppies are alert, spirited and independent, with a fox-like face and a curled tail. They are clean dogs that often keep themselves tidy, but they can be strong-willed, and they need consistent training and good fencing, since they like to explore. Ponds need care: stagnant water can contain algae that is harmful to pets, and steep banks can be slippery. Keep dogs from drinking from standing water and talk to your vet about safe water sources. Ponies should have clean water in a trough instead.
The two make a thoughtful pair at the water's edge. The puppy seems to be keeping watch, and the pony is calm beside him. Frogs may be calling somewhere, though the picture itself is quiet. It is the sort of evening that makes a day feel complete: a small dog, a small pony, a still pond and a lamp glowing on the porch.
