The Border Collie Puppy Finally Stopped Herding and Fell Asleep on a Pony
On a thick bed of straw, a black and white Border Collie puppy is sleeping with its chin on its paws and its dark nose tucked in, curled against the cheek of a golden pony. Pebble sleeps with her heavy head resting on the hay, her pale forelock draped across her eyes. Garden gloves, a green hose and a duffel bag lie in the clutter behind them.
Border Collie puppies grow into some of the smartest and most energetic dogs, and a nap is often the only quiet time they get. The breed needs lots of exercise, mental work and a task to do, or it can become restless. Hay makes a cozy nest, but it can also be dusty or moldy, which may bother a puppy's nose and lungs. Choose clean, dry bedding and keep young pups away from rough play with large animals. Ponies need hay as a staple, but they should not share a sleeping spot with a dog unsupervised. Your vet can answer any questions.
There is a lovely softness to it all: black and white fur against golden, small breath against large. The puppy has found a place to rest after a morning of herding anything that moved, while the pony seems content to be a pillow. A shaft of light falls through the window onto the hay. Everything about the picture says rest, and both of them are taking it very seriously.
