The Storm Rolled In, and Two Best Friends Took Window Seats
Rain is tapping at the window, and two friends are sitting close to watch it. A big red Maine Coon with tufted ears and golden eyes gazes outward with a regal tilt of her head, while a cream lop-eared bunny sits in front of her with her ears hanging and her eyes fixed on the same patch of wet garden. The windowsill is a cozy jumble: a knit blanket, a pottery mug, a sprig of eucalyptus, and a clump of loose fur that suggests someone has been brushed lately.
Maine Coons are one of the largest domestic cat breeds, and they are often described as gentle, sociable and a bit goofy, which can make them patient housemates for other pets. Watching the weather is a classic cat pastime, and rabbits are natural lookouts too, with eyes set high on their heads for a wide view. A rainy-day window seat is a great enrichment spot for both. Just make sure the window latch is secure, keep cords and small items off the sill, and give a bunny a soft surface so her feet aren't sliding on slick wood.
We'll call the cat Rusty and the bunny Clover. They seem content to let the storm do the talking, and the whole room feels like a deep, calming breath. Rainy days are good for exactly this sort of unhurried company, with a warm room, a quiet view, and a friend close enough to share it.
