A Lazy Afternoon, a Rope Hammock, and Two Very Sleepy Friends
A cream cotton hammock hangs on the porch, and the two guests inside it are clearly past the point of conversation. A seal point Siamese stretches out with her dark face resting on one paw, her pale body sinking into the fabric. Pressed up next to her is a gray-brown lop-eared bunny with her ears draped sideways and her eyes shut. Rope fringe dangles around them, and beyond the porch rail is a sunny backyard with a wooden fence and a few potted plants.
Siamese cats are famous for being talkative and affectionate, and many form strong bonds with their household. They tend to enjoy company and often follow their people around, so a bunny friend can be a nice companion during the day. If you have a hammock or similar hanging bed, remember that it should be sturdy, hung low, and checked often for frayed rope. A spot that sways can feel soothing to cats but may unsettle some rabbits, so it is best to watch how your pets react. Offer fresh water nearby on warm days, and avoid leaving animals outside unattended.
We'll call them Mocha and Truffle. A drowsy afternoon, a gentle breeze, and a friend within whisker distance is about as perfect as it gets, and the hammock seems to agree. It is the kind of peaceful rest that makes the whole porch feel quiet.
