Rain on the Window and a Goldendoodle With a Very Small Audience

AI imagegoldendoodleducklingsrainy day

Rain taps at the glass, the room is soft and gray, and a cream Goldendoodle has pulled up beside the window to watch it come down. Right next to her face, a line of yellow ducklings stands along the sill, all tilted the same way, as if the weather is the best show they have ever seen. A blanket hangs over the couch behind them, and a mug sits forgotten on the shelf. One duckling at the end of the line is leaning forward on its orange feet, curious about the drops sliding down the pane.

Rainy days can leave dogs a little restless, since a walk is often shorter or skipped altogether. A few indoor games help: hide a treat under a cup, practice a trick, or try a simple scent game with kibble tucked around a room. Short bursts of mental exercise tire a dog out in a surprisingly satisfying way, and they also make a good rainy-day bonding session.

Goldendoodles, a cross between a Golden Retriever and a Poodle, tend to be friendly and social, with a curly or wavy coat that needs regular brushing to prevent mats. Their gentle nature helps them become fast friends with just about everyone they meet.

For the moment there are no chores, no hurry and no wrong way to spend an afternoon. Just a window, some raindrops and the quiet company of a very good dog.
