A Jack Russell Terrier Fell Asleep With a Tiny Foal in His Paws
A tricolor Jack Russell Terrier is deeply asleep on a living room rug, chin resting on a tiny chestnut foal whose head is tucked between the dog's front paws. Both have closed their eyes, and a rope toy lies beside them like a forgotten chaperone. Plants, baskets and a cozy couch fill the room behind them, and soft daylight comes through the window. The terrier's white paws frame the foal's soft ears, and neither of them stirs even when a floorboard creaks nearby.
Jack Russell Terriers are tiny athletes with big personalities. They are fast, brave and clever, and they need lots of activity and play to burn off their energy. An exhausted terrier is a quiet one, so a long walk or a good game before a nap is usually wise. They are famously good at inventing their own games, which is fun but can mean mischief.
Young animals sleep an enormous amount, and foals are no exception. They nap often in the first weeks, close to their mother, and they feel safest when someone is next to them. A calm companion of any kind can help a youngster settle into a quiet rest.
The room is silent except for slow breathing. Sometimes the best moments are the quietest ones. Naptime is a shared language. Sleep tight, small friends.
