A White Cat and a Bunny Soaked Up the Sunshine on the Deck
The deck boards are warm, the light is golden and a long-haired white cat is stretched out beside a tan lop-eared bunny as if they have all the time in the world. The cat's yellow eyes look sleepily at the camera, her fluffy tail curling behind her, and the bunny rests with its ears flat and its eyes half shut. A garden fence and flowerpots frame the quiet, sun-drenched yard.
Norwegian Forest Cats are sturdy, long-haired cats from Scandinavia, with a thick double coat built for cold weather. They are gentle, intelligent and love to climb, and they tend to be friendly with other pets. That thick coat sheds heavily in spring, so regular brushing helps. White cats with blue eyes can sometimes be deaf, so ask your vet about hearing checks.
Sunning is a favorite hobby for both cats and rabbits, but too much heat can be dangerous, especially for rabbits. Rabbits can overheat quickly and need shade and cool places to rest. If you let your pets out on a sunny deck, keep fresh water close by and a shady spot nearby so they can choose what feels right.
Warm boards, a soft breeze and a good friend. The sun sets slowly, and nobody is in a hurry to go inside. Lazy afternoons are the very best afternoons.
