Laundry Day Went Sideways When a Cat Climbed Into the Basket
A wicker laundry basket sits by a bright window, filled with freshly dried towels that have not quite been folded. Right in the middle sits a cream Scottish Fold with an unbothered expression and small folded ears. Five yellow chicks nestle into the towels around her, each tucked into a soft little hollow.
Few things draw a cat like a basket of warm laundry. The towels hold heat from the dryer, they smell like home, and the basket sides offer a snug hiding spot. Scottish Folds, with their round faces and sweet temperaments, are often fans of cozy hideaways and being near their people. They are not unusually vocal and usually prefer gentle interaction.
If your own cat loves the laundry, a few tips help. Check the basket before running the machine, because a sleeping cat can be hard to spot among the towels. Keep dryer doors closed, and be careful with anything scented or chemical on fabrics that a pet might lick. A talk with your vet can cover anything specific to your pet.
The chicks do not mind that the towels are going to wrinkle. The cat watches the room as if nothing is amiss, and the laundry day schedule has clearly been rewritten. Some chores can just wait for a cuddle. A basket this soft is hard to leave, and so far nobody is trying.
