A Scottish Fold and Five Ducklings Waited in the Straw Wheelbarrow
Warm evening light falls over a rusty green wheelbarrow full of straw, and it carries a most unusual crew. A cream Scottish Fold sits upright at the back, her folded ears flat against her head and her golden eyes looking off to the side with a serious expression. Five yellow ducklings spread out in front of her, some standing on the straw, some sitting, all facing the same direction as though they are waiting for the ride to begin. The wheelbarrow's old paint is chipped and peeling, and behind it a gravel path, a hose and a few potted plants stretch across a small backyard.
Scottish Folds are known for their unique folded ears, which come from a genetic trait, and for their sweet, calm natures. Their ears and joints can come with health concerns, so regular checkups with a vet are a good idea. Straw is a good bedding for ducklings in a proper brooder, but should be kept clean and dry. A wheelbarrow is a fun photo prop, but moving baby birds in one can be risky, and they should not be left unattended with a cat. If you raise ducklings, a local poultry keeper or your vet can help you with safe housing.
Wherever the wheelbarrow is headed, nobody seems worried. The cat is ready, the ducklings are ready, and the evening is calm.
