The Laundry Basket Got Two New Residents Before It Got Washed
Fresh towels have never had such enthusiastic inspectors. A black and white Havanese lies curled in a wicker laundry basket with his chin propped on a thick cream towel, his shaggy bangs falling over his dark eyes. Nestled against his side, a small brown bunny named Clover has wriggled into the folds, her ears laid back along her neck in total comfort.
Behind the basket, more laundry spills into view: denim jeans, a gray sweatshirt, and a stack of soft beige towels. A peeling wall and a leafy plant frame the corner. The laundry was clearly meant for the washing machine, but the pair has other priorities.
Cats are not the only animals that love a warm laundry nest. Dogs and rabbits both enjoy snug, enclosed spaces, because tight corners feel safe. Havanese dogs are cheerful, people-loving companions, and their silky coats make them fond of soft surfaces. Just remember that fabric can hold hazards: loose threads can be chewed and swallowed, and some detergents or dryer sheets can irritate skin or be unsafe if licked. Wash anything your pets nap on regularly. For rabbits, avoid towels with long loops that can catch toenails, and ask your vet if you are unsure what bedding is best.
The wash can wait. When a basket is this warm and a friend is this close, the folding is clearly going to be delayed.
