A Ruby Cavalier Spaniel Curled Around a Lamb in the Snow
On a bed of snow, a ruby Cavalier King Charles Spaniel has curled herself around a sleeping lamb. Her silky red-brown coat glows against the white ground, and her long ears fall across the lamb's shoulder. Dumpling rests with her head on the dog's paw and her eyes closed. A fence and a few bare branches show behind them. The Cavalier's soft, dark eyes are open and she watches over her friend. A little snow clings to their fur, and they seem to be perfectly content. Her tail curls over the lamb's back like a little blanket of its own.
Cavalier King Charles Spaniels are affectionate, gentle toy spaniels known for their loving nature and silky coats. They tend to be happiest close to their people and are generally friendly toward other animals. Their coats offer some protection from cold, but they are small dogs and should not stay outside in winter for long. Wipe their paws after being out, since ice and salt can irritate. Cavaliers are also prone to certain heart conditions, so regular vet checkups are important. Young lambs need a dry shelter in winter and shouldn't be left out for long in snow. A warm blanket and a dry bed are a good idea after any outing in the cold.
A few flakes fall and the two stay close, and warmth is something they share. It's cold outside, but between them there's plenty of warmth.
