The Frenchie's Bed Was Big Enough for Two, and Only One Knew It
Dog beds are usually a one-pet affair, but this round, fluffy white cushion has made room for two. A brindle French Bulldog lies curled in a half circle with his bat-like ears slightly drooped, and a small brown bunny has tucked herself into the open curve of his body. The floor around them holds a laundry basket, a scatter of blankets, and a window letting in pale daylight.
French Bulldogs are affectionate, people-loving dogs who thrive on company and tend to be easygoing with other household animals. Like other flat-faced breeds, they can have trouble with heat and with strenuous exercise, so a cool, quiet spot for napping is ideal, and your vet can advise on keeping them comfortable. If a dog and a rabbit are going to share a room, a few ground rules help. Keep nails trimmed, make sure the rabbit always has an escape route, and avoid leaving them alone together until you are very sure of how they behave. A shared bed like this one is a lovely sign, but it is best seen as a supervised treat rather than a full-time arrangement.
The Frenchie seems to know he is the larger partner and takes the job seriously, holding himself still so the bunny is not disturbed. She leans in and lets her shoulders drop. Sometimes the nicest thing you can do for a friend is simply stay very, very still and share the warm spot.
