One Round Bowl, a Curly Bichon, and a Very Thirsty Calf
Heads together over one shallow white bowl, a curly white Bichon Frise and a brown and white calf are sharing a drink. The Bichon's dark eyes look up for a moment as the calf's pink nose dips into the water beside him. Behind them, a basket of laundry, a toy, and a few shoes are scattered across the room, and the light is soft and even.
Clean water is vital for every animal. Dogs need fresh water available all day, and calves also need access to clean water as they grow, in addition to their milk or feed, according to their vet and farm routine. Sharing a bowl can pass germs between animals, so it is best to give each animal its own clean bowl and wash them regularly. A Bichon's curly coat around the mouth can stay damp, so wipe the face after a drink. If you notice that a pet is drinking much more or much less than usual, call your vet. Good hydration is one of the simplest ways to keep a pet healthy.
The picture is full of quiet politeness. Neither animal is rushing, and neither is pushing the other away. It is a gentle little scene of two friends who have worked out how to share. If you can share a bowl, you can probably share anything, and these two look like they could.
