A Hairless Cat and a Fluffy Bunny Said a Careful Hello
Face to face in a sunny living room, a grey Sphynx cat with big wrinkled ears and a wise, golden-eyed stare leans in toward a fluffy lop-eared bunny. The bunny holds her ground, her dark eye round and shining and her long ears hanging. A cozy couch with a knit blanket and a small table sit behind them, and soft light fills the room. It is a quiet, curious hello.
Sphynx cats have no coat, but they are far from cold in personality. They are known for being social, affectionate, and attention-seeking. Their bare skin means they need some care, such as regular baths to manage skin oil, protection from sun, and warm bedding in cool weather, so ask your vet for guidance. When a cat and a rabbit meet, a slow, calm greeting with each animal feeling safe is ideal. Watch for relaxed bodies and curious expressions, and separate them if either looks stiff or frightened. Short meetings and plenty of patience build trust. A rabbit should always have an escape route.
This one looks like it is going well. Neither animal is flinching, and both are paying very close attention. The contrast is striking, the smooth, wrinkled cat and the fluffy, soft bunny, yet they seem to be getting along just fine. First hellos can be small, quiet things, and some of the best ones are exactly this gentle.
