Somewhere in This Fluffy Pile Is One Very Small Dog
It is hard to tell where one nap ends and the other begins. A sable Pomeranian has tucked herself into a tight golden-brown puff on the couch, and right next to her is Copper, curled into a chestnut ball of his own. Both have their eyes closed, and the cushions, throw blanket and sunlit living room make the whole picture look like a warm hug. A wicker basket, a plant and a stack of folded laundry sit behind them, which gives the whole room a calm, homey feeling.
Pomeranians are tiny dogs with a big double coat, and that fluff needs regular brushing, especially during shedding season. They are bold, lively little characters who often think they are much larger than they are, which may be why this one sees no problem napping with a horse. Because Poms are so small, any time with large animals should be supervised, so nobody gets squished by accident. Dogs also tend to nap more than people expect, often twelve hours a day or more, so a long snooze like this is perfectly normal. Talk to your vet if your dog's sleep patterns change suddenly.
The living room is quiet and the pillows are plump. Somewhere in that fluffy tangle there is a small dog who is the happiest she will be all week. Nobody is in a rush to get up, and the soft couch seems to agree with that plan completely.
