The Pug Was Not Ready for Morning, but His Friend Definitely Was
Morning has arrived, but the quilt says otherwise. A black Pug peeks out from the cream covers with sleepy round eyes and a wrinkled brow, looking like he would rather not get up. Next to him, Copper the chestnut horse rests his head on the quilt, ears upright and gaze soft, wide awake and ready for the day. A pillow and a bedside table sit calmly in the background, and pale light slips through the curtains.
Pugs love to snuggle and are famous for their funny faces, but they often have noisy breathing and need to be kept cool. A bed with a soft, breathable quilt is nice in the morning, but if you have a flat-faced dog, avoid heavy covers that might trap heat. Dogs sleep many hours a day, and they like to burrow into soft places, which is natural and comforting for them. If your pet's sleeping habits change suddenly, or if he snores more loudly than usual, talk to your vet. Horses do not typically sleep in beds, of course, but there is no harm in a very gentle fantasy about it.
The Pug is not ready for morning yet, and Copper is willing to wait. Some friendships are built on doing things at the same speed, and this one is built on staying wrapped up for just five more minutes.
