A Big Black Maine Coon Became the Guardian of the Leaf Pile
The leaves are crisp and orange, and a fluffy black Maine Coon is lying right in the middle of the pile. His green eyes follow the three small chicks scratching and hopping around his paws. The chicks look like bright yellow buttons against the reds and golds of the leaves. A blanket, a basket and some shoes are visible near the wall of the room behind them, which gives the whole scene a warm, cozy feeling.
Maine Coons are one of the largest domestic cat breeds, known for their tufted ears, bushy tails and sweet, sociable personalities. They are often described as gentle giants. Their long coat needs regular brushing, especially in autumn when many cats shed, and they tend to enjoy having a person to follow around. A pile of leaves is a fun playground, but it can also hide sharp sticks, burrs or things pets should not eat, so look it over first. Young chicks are small and delicate, so they need a warm brooder and should not be out in cool autumn air for long. Supervise any cat and chick time carefully, and wash your hands afterward.
The leaves rustle, the chicks peep and the big cat watches with a patient, soft look. There is something comforting about an autumn afternoon when no one has anywhere to be and the biggest question is who gets to sit on the biggest leaf.
