The Corgi Puppy Trotted Across the Yard With a Pony on His Back

AI imagecorgi puppyponybackyard

Just another busy afternoon in the backyard, except that the Corgi puppy has acquired a passenger. Clover the shaggy pony has hopped up onto his back, her little hooves planted on his sandy coat, her forelock falling over her eyes as she gazes off in the distance like a tiny captain. The Corgi, blue collar on and big ears pricked, grins with his tongue out, apparently delighted with the arrangement. A green watering can, a terra-cotta pot, and a scattering of fall leaves dot the lawn.

Corgis are cheerful, sturdy herding dogs with short legs and plenty of energy, and they often love to be in the middle of things. Their strong herding instinct can lead them to nip at heels or chase moving creatures, so training and gentle guidance help keep play polite. They are also usually quite food-motivated, and it is easy for a Corgi to gain extra weight, so a balanced diet and daily exercise matter. A Corgi would never really be able to carry a pony, of course, and real play between animals of such different sizes is best kept supervised and gentle. Ask your vet about healthy habits for your dog.

Still, in this little scene the puppy looks proud as can be, trotting along with his unusual cargo. Clover looks equally pleased with the view, and it seems nobody in the yard wants to get off the ride.
