Four Sleepy Ducklings Curled Up on an Abyssinian Cat's Warm Belly
With her eyes shut and one paw stretched out, the Abyssinian cat has gone fully limp in the warm light. Her short coat shimmers in russet and gold, and nestled in the curve of her belly are four fluffy ducklings, heads tucked and tails fluffed. One rests with its bill pointing up toward her chin, and another leans against its sibling like a pillow. A cream blanket cradles all five of them, and a laundry basket and soft sunlight fill the background.
Cats are among the world's best sleepers and may snooze for most of the day, often in sunny spots. A warm spot is irresistible to them, which is also why they love laps and blankets. Ducklings need constant warmth in their first weeks, and in a real setting that warmth comes from a heat source in a safe brooder with soft bedding. Cats and ducklings should be supervised or separated when unsupervised, because hunting instincts can surface at any time. If you ever care for ducklings, a vet can help with proper setup, feeding, and temperature.
The sleeper in the middle of it all looks happy and peaceful. Four little heartbeats rise and fall against the cat's fur, and the whole pile seems to breathe together. It is a lovely picture of what a quiet afternoon can look like.
