A Havanese and Dumpling the Lamb Inspected the Garden as Night Fell

AI imagehavaneselambvegetable garden

Evening is settling over the vegetable garden, and a porch lamp glows above the door. A black-and-white Havanese with a flowing, shaggy coat walks along the edge of a raised bed, his dark eyes serious and his long ears swinging. Dumpling the white lamb steps carefully beside him, sniffing at the herbs and green leaves. Lettuce, rosemary, basil, and tiny seedlings fill the beds, and a green watering can sits on the soil nearby.

Havanese are friendly, sociable dogs with long silky coats, and they tend to love being near their families. Their coats need regular brushing, and many owners keep them trimmed for easier care. Gardens can be wonderful places for pets to explore, but they have hazards too. Some common garden plants are poisonous to dogs and livestock, and fertilizers and pest controls can be harmful. Lambs love to nibble greens, so it is wise to check what is growing before letting them roam. Your vet or a local extension office can help you identify plants that are safe.

For now the two wander at a gentle pace, nosing around each corner as if inspecting the harvest. The dog is curious, the lamb is curious, and together they make a good team. It is a lovely end to a long garden day, with the first stars waiting just above the fence.
