The Pomeranian and the Lamb Watched the Chicken Yard From Behind the Fence

At the wire fence, two curious onlookers have taken up positions. A sable Pomeranian on the left sits with his dark eyes aimed at the farmyard, his ears alert and his fluffy mane framing his small face. Dumpling the white lamb stands just beside him on the other side of the wire, her head turned to follow the show. A busy flock of hens and roosters, red, black, white, and speckled, scratch in the dirt, paying them no attention at all.

Pomeranians are tiny, confident dogs with fluffy double coats and a bold, curious nature. They are often alert and may bark when something new appears, so they can be excellent little watchdogs, though training helps keep the noise down. Chickens and dogs do not always get along, as many dogs have a strong instinct to chase birds, so a fence is a very good idea. Lambs and hens can usually share a pasture peacefully. If you keep poultry and dogs together, a vet or an experienced farmer can give advice about doing it safely.

The pair look like spectators at a very good show. The chickens strut, the lamb stares, and the little dog watches with the intensity of a sports fan. No one on either side of the fence seems willing to be the first to look away.
