A Shaggy Tabby and Five Ducklings Spot Something Over the Garden Bed
Soil, weeds and a few green sprouts fill a wooden raised bed, and along its edge a shaggy brown tabby and five ducklings all peer in the same direction. The cat sits upright at the left, his thick coat looking a bit like tree bark. The ducklings are lined up beside him, their bills resting on the wood and their beady eyes locked on something just out of view. A terracotta pot, a watering can and a bare garden patch complete the scene.
The Norwegian Forest Cat is an old breed with a rugged look, long guard hairs and a thick undercoat that sheds heavily in spring. These cats are known for being good climbers, strong and independent, but also friendly and patient with people. Many love an outdoor view and happily watch a garden for hours. Gardens do carry hidden risks for pets, though. Some common plants, such as lilies, are dangerous for cats, and fertilizers and slug baits can be harmful to animals, so it is smart to check what is growing before pets spend time there. If you're unsure about a plant, talk to your vet.
What exactly has the group so fascinated? The picture doesn't say, and that is part of the charm. Six heads lean over the same edge, shoulder to shoulder, sharing one very important mystery.
