The Laundry Basket Was Supposed to Be for Towels. Now It Has Two Napping Friends.
A wicker laundry basket has become a nest, and nobody is going to fold the towels today. A white and tan Jack Russell Terrier sleeps with his nose tucked into the cloth, and a brown and white calf curls right beside him, her ear flopped down and her face pressed into the soft folds. The pale wall and warm light make the whole scene feel like the quietest hour of the afternoon. The terrier is Pepper and the calf is Maple.
Jack Russells are tireless, clever little dogs bred for hunting, so a sleeping Jack Russell is something of a miracle. These terriers need a lot of exercise and mental work, and a tired dog is a happy dog. Once they have had their fill, many love nothing more than burrowing into a warm blanket. Nesting behavior is common in dogs, who often circle and scratch to make a cozy spot.
If your pet loves a basket of fresh towels, that is perfectly normal, but make sure no dryer sheets, loose threads, or small items are hidden in the laundry. Washable bedding that smells like home gives energetic terriers a calm place to settle after a busy day.
Pepper has finally stopped moving, and Maple is dreaming of green pastures. Even the busiest little dog needs a soft place to land.
