A Black Devon Rex Rested in the Shade With a Group of Ducklings at Her Side
The shade of a tree falls across the grass, and a black Devon Rex lies in the middle of it with her huge ears and slim face. Resting right beside her, a group of fluffy yellow ducklings has gathered close. Light dapples the garden, and a patio and plants are visible beyond. We'll call the cat Pepper. A breeze moves the leaves overhead, and the ducklings blink slowly in the dappled light, looking as relaxed as she does.
Devon Rex cats are known for their curly coats, large ears, and mischievous personalities. They are playful and affectionate, and they often follow their people around. Their fine, wavy coat sheds little, but it can be delicate, and they often love warm spots because of their thin fur. They are also known for climbing to high places and for being clever enough to open cupboards.
On a warm day, both cats and ducklings need shade and water. Ducklings can overheat easily, so make sure they have a cool spot and fresh water. Never leave them outside in direct sun, and keep them safe from predators. If your cat spends time outside, make sure she has shade too.
Pepper looks calm and content, and the ducklings seem to agree. It is a peaceful afternoon in the garden. It is the kind of lazy afternoon that stretches out forever.
