A Silver Tabby and Six Ducklings Soaked Up the Sun on the Windowsill
A sunny windowsill has become a tiny stage, and a silver tabby American Shorthair is sitting on it with her striped coat gleaming and her gaze fixed on something outside. Six fluffy yellow ducklings are gathered at her side, some sitting and some standing. A linen curtain, a clay pot, and a few blankets add to the cozy feeling. We'll call the cat Sterling. The curtain stirs in a small breeze, and the ducklings peep to one another as they settle in the warmth.
American Shorthairs are sturdy, friendly cats that make good family pets. They are known for being calm and easygoing, and they tend to enjoy lounging in a patch of sunlight. A sunny window offers warmth, a view, and a bit of entertainment, and most cats love it. Cats are drawn to heat, and many will follow a sunbeam around the house all day.
Sunlight can be good for ducklings as well, but they should never be left in a closed, hot room or behind glass where they can overheat. They need a spot with shade and fresh air, and they should be watched closely. If you notice heavy panting or drooping, move them to a cooler place.
Sterling looks calm and content, and the ducklings seem right at home. It is a warm, golden afternoon. The sun slides slowly across the sill, and nobody feels the need to move.
