Santa Was Late, but This Stocking Already Had a Bichon in It
The fluffy white head pokes out above a thick white cuff, and the rest of the dog is buried deep inside a giant red knit stocking. This Bichon Frise looks off to the right with calm dark eyes, as if nothing is unusual about spending an afternoon inside a sock. Behind him, a living room with a couch, a plaid blanket, a pair of glasses and scattered pine cones suggests that holiday morning has already come and gone.
Dogs like snug, enclosed spaces because they remind them of a den, where they feel secure. A blanket, a crate or a stocking can offer that same comfort. Bichon Frises are small, affectionate dogs who love cuddling, and they often seek out warm, cozy spots. If your dog climbs into holiday decorations, make sure nothing small or sharp is hidden inside. Knitted items with loose threads can also tangle in claws, so supervise any stocking visits. And small dogs shouldn't be left alone in a stocking for long, since they could get stuck.
We'll call him Cotton. He's perfectly content to stay in his festive hiding place, a white pom-pom on top of a red stocking. If Santa came by, he'd probably leave a treat in there, though Cotton might be sitting in the stocking already. Whatever the reason, it makes for a very sweet picture, and a good reminder that small dogs love any soft, tucked-in place they can call their own.
