The Kids' Table Had a Very Unusual Guest This Thanksgiving
Every family has a kids' table, and this year it has a very unusual guest. A tiny pink Sphynx kitten perches on a little blue wooden chair, oversized ears standing tall, wrinkly skin bunched around her shoulders, and pale blue eyes gazing off to the side. In front of her, the low table is covered in crayons and hand-drawn pumpkin and leaf pictures, with a few paper leaves and a sippy cup nearby. On the wall behind her, children's drawings of a turkey and a pumpkin are taped up with care, and a plaid blanket is draped over a chair across the room.
Sphynx cats are known for their nearly hairless bodies, velvety skin, and big personalities. They're typically outgoing, affectionate, and attention-loving, which makes them natural party guests. Their lack of fur does come with special care needs. Without a coat to absorb skin oils, they often need regular baths. They can also get chilly easily, so cozy blankets, warm beds, and even soft sweaters help in cooler months. On the flip side, they can get sunburned if they spend time in strong sunlight. Around kids' tables, keep crayons, markers, and small craft items picked up, since curious kittens may chew on them.
This little Sphynx may not be coloring today, but she's clearly enjoying her seat of honor. She's got the best view of the festivities, and the kids couldn't be happier to share.
