The Lights Were Waiting for the Tree, but a Tuxedo Kitten Got There First

AI imagetuxedo kittenchristmas lightsliving room

The lights were meant for the tree, but the tuxedo kitten got to them first. She stands on a woven rug with a loop of tiny warm bulbs around her paws and her tail, her white chest and mittens glowing in the light and her wide eyes looking sideways, as though she has just been caught. Blankets, pine cones, slippers and a basket of ornaments surround her on the floor, and a table in the background holds a pile of unopened decorations.

Lights and cords are a real hazard for kittens. Chewing on a plugged-in cord can cause burns and shocks, so keep strings unplugged until they are hung and supervised, and put cord covers on the visible ones. If a kitten becomes tangled, stay calm, unplug the lights first and gently free her without pulling. Do not leave her alone with wires, and call your vet if she chews on one. Tuxedo cats are simply black and white, not a breed, and they are often playful, social and curious. A feather wand or crinkle toy gives that curiosity a safe outlet and keeps paws away from the decorations.

With some patience and a gentle hand, the lights will get untangled and she will be fine. Meanwhile, the glittering circle makes for a very cute photograph of a small cat in a very big mess.
