A Tabby Kitten Put On an Elf Collar and Took Her New Job Seriously

AI imagemaine coon kittenelf costumetabby kitten

The little elf has a very important message and a very serious face. A brown tabby kitten wears a green felt collar with red trim and a tiny green hat topped with a white pom-pom, her big gold eyes round and her whiskers sticking out like a fan. Behind her the room is full of holiday life: gifts wrapped in brown paper, a thermos on the shelf, pine needles on the table and a soft heap of knit blankets.

Maine Coon kittens are playful, curious and very social, and they grow slowly, taking up to a few years to reach their full, impressive size. Their thick coats need regular brushing, especially behind the ears and under the belly, where mats can form. A small costume can be fun, but always keep it loose, avoid anything covering the eyes or nose and take it off at the first sign of stress. Skip costumes with bells or tiny buttons that could be chewed off. Kittens do best when new things are introduced slowly and paired with treats, so a quick photo, followed by a snack, makes the experience positive.

As an elf, she is clearly well suited to the job of supervising all the gifts on the table. If the holiday work is anything like her stare, the packages are in very good paws.
