The Porch Was Decorated for Fall, and a Cream Puppy Became the Centerpiece
Surrounded by pumpkins, speckled squash and a woven grapevine wreath, a cream Shiba Inu puppy sits like a prize ornament on the autumn porch. His pointed ears are alert, his dark eyes look toward the side and the red berries and eucalyptus leaves in the wreath add flecks of color to the scene. Fallen leaves are scattered across the boards, and a gentle light falls over the entire display.
Shiba Inus are a small Japanese breed known for being alert, clean and independent, often described as cat-like. They can be reserved with strangers and strong-willed, so patient, reward-based training and early socialization help a puppy grow into a confident dog. Autumn decorations are fun but need some care. Gourds and pumpkins can upset a dog's stomach if chewed, berries on wreaths may be mildly toxic, and wired garlands can hurt a curious mouth. Put decorations where your puppy cannot chew them, and offer a chew toy instead. Ask your vet if he swallows something unusual, and keep his time on the porch short and supervised.
The harvest looks beautiful, and the puppy fits right in with the golden colors. It is a picture of a quiet fall day, a small dog resting in the middle of a crop of squashes and a season that smells like leaves and woodsmoke, with a little company for the pumpkins.
