A Black Puppy Greeted the Day in a Collar Made of Maple Leaves
On the front steps, a fluffy black puppy with a white chest sits wearing a collar made of orange and rust-colored maple leaves. The leaves are fanned out like a tiny lion's mane, and the puppy's dark eyes look gently at the camera. Behind the steps, a doormat, a tote bag, a backpack, a stack of pumpkins and a plaid blanket hint at a family getting ready for a gathering.
A leaf collar is a sweet idea for photos, but it should be used with care. Real leaves can have bits of dirt, insects or mold, and they can be chewed and swallowed. Some leaves, like those from certain trees, may upset a dog's stomach. Keep a close eye on the puppy and take the leaves off afterward, and use a regular collar for walking.
Mixed-breed rescue puppies are full of surprises. A fluffy black coat with a white chest may come from many different ancestors, and the personality is always unique. Adopted puppies often adjust quickly to a warm family home, and many are deeply loyal. If you're thinking of adding a dog to your family, your local shelter is full of wonderful dogs waiting for a home.
This puppy looks both thoughtful and a little proud. Autumn has dressed him, and he's ready for company. A few crunchy leaves rustle with every wag of the tail.
