A Giant Saint Bernard Fell Asleep on the Wrapping Paper Mountain
A giant red and white Saint Bernard lies on the floor with his huge head resting on a heap of crumpled red, silver, and kraft wrapping paper. His droopy jowls are relaxed, his eyes are closed, and one big paw stretches out in front of him. Behind him, a tree with gold ornaments stands in the corner, and a sofa, a pile of toys, and a few slippers dot the living room.
Saint Bernards are huge, gentle dogs known for their calm, patient personalities. They were originally bred in the Swiss Alps and are famous for their size and friendly nature. Today they are popular family dogs, though they need plenty of space and regular vet checkups. Because of their size, they can overheat easily, so a cool resting place is important.
The wrapping paper is soft and crinkly, which makes a fun nap spot, but dogs should be kept from chewing or swallowing it. Ribbon, tape, and foil can be dangerous if eaten, so clearing the floor after gift opening is a good habit. If your dog eats paper or ribbon, call your vet. Giant breeds also do well on a supportive bed for their joints, so offering a thick dog bed nearby is a good idea.
For now, this big sleeper snoozes in the middle of a happy mess. The gifts are open, the paper is a pile, and he has found the softest spot in the room.
