A Leaf Pile, Some Pumpkins, and One Abyssinian Kitten Ready to Pounce

AI imageabyssinian kittenhalloweenleaf pile

The leaf pile is deep, orange, and crunchy, and a ruddy Abyssinian kitten has jumped right in. She crouches low with one paw stretched forward and her big ears pushed forward, eyes locked onto some invisible target among the leaves. Pumpkins in orange and cream sit by the door, and a screen door and a gardening bag are visible behind her.

Abyssinians have a short, ticked coat in warm shades, and they are known to be among the most energetic cats. They are intelligent and curious, love to climb, and tend to want to be involved in whatever their people are doing. Leaves are an exciting playground, but a quick check afterward for burrs, bugs, or thorns is wise, especially with an active kitten.

Keep in mind that kittens should be kept under watch outdoors. A harness and leash, or a fenced area, helps prevent escapes. Outdoor ground can also hold things like lawn chemicals, so rinse paws if needed. As for this kitten, she looks like she's having the best day of her small life. She pounces, tumbles, and bounces back up, ready for another round, with leaves clinging to her fur like confetti. One leaf sticks to her ear and she doesn't mind at all. In a few minutes, the whole pile will probably need raking again, and she will be delighted to help with that too.
