Snow Covered the Porch Steps and the Ginger Cat Took the Middle One
Fresh snow has settled over every step of the porch, and a trim of green garland winds along the edge of each stair. Halfway up sits a fluffy orange cat with a thick, ginger coat and a thoughtful profile, looking off to the left as if something interesting just moved at the end of the yard. The door above is dark blue and a small potted evergreen waits by the railing. Everything is quiet and white, and the cat is the one splash of warm color.
Most cats are happy to watch snow from the doorway, and some enjoy stepping out for a few moments. Cold weather is still a concern, so it is wise to keep outings short and to wipe the paws afterward, since salt or ice melt on the ground can irritate skin. Longhaired cats do carry a bit of natural protection, but a damp coat can chill them, and a towel by the door is handy. On very cold days, supervise closely and bring your pet inside if they seem uncomfortable.
Orange cats have a reputation for being friendly and a little goofy, and this one has chosen a fitting spot, with garland on both sides like a runway. A ginger cat on a snowy step is about as holiday-card as it gets. Nobody has opened the door yet, but he looks perfectly willing to wait.
