Her Favorite Show of the Night Played Right Outside the Window
With her front paws on the windowsill, a curly red Goldendoodle puppy watches the street with deep interest. Outside, a small ghost, a little cat and a few other kids in costumes wander by with their bags. Pumpkins glow on neighboring porches, and the soft evening light fills the room, which is full of blankets and fall decorations. Her curls look like warm copper and her eyes follow every costume.
Halloween night can be exciting and a bit overwhelming for a dog, with the doorbell ringing, strangers in odd outfits and constant noise. Watching from a window is a gentle way for a puppy to get used to it, as long as she stays calm. If your dog barks or paces a lot, move to a quiet room with a chew toy and soft music. A safe space away from the door makes everyone more comfortable, and your vet or a trainer can help with nervous behavior.
Goldendoodles are social and friendly, so she is probably dreaming of joining the parade. Instead, she sits with a patient face and watches from her post, tail likely wagging behind the couch. It is nice to see a puppy who simply loves the show. When the last costume has passed, she will be ready for an evening cuddle and a long, well-earned sleep.
