A Bernese Puppy Rode Up in a Cowboy Hat and Bandana

Bernese Mountain Dogs are large, gentle dogs that began as farm helpers in the Swiss Alps. They are known for being calm, affectionate and good with families, and their thick, tricolor coat sheds quite a bit and needs regular brushing. They grow fast, and big puppies are best kept to gentle exercise while their joints develop, so ask your vet about the right amount of play. Because of their thick fur, Berners can overheat in warm weather, so a costume should be light and removed if the puppy seems warm.
