A Kitten Sheriff in a Tiny Cowboy Hat Took Over the Porch

AI imagecream kittencowboy costumepersian

There is a new sheriff in town, and she weighs about as much as a loaf of bread. A fluffy cream kitten sits on the porch wearing a small brown cowboy hat tilted over one ear, a denim vest, and an orange bandana tied around her neck. Her big round eyes look up with a slightly worried frown, which somehow only adds to the Wild West drama. A grinning jack-o'-lantern sits on the step beside her, and fall leaves and a bit of cobweb gather by the railing. We'll call her Sheriff Dumpling.

Persians and similar long-haired, flat-faced breeds are known for their sweet, quiet nature. They often prefer lounging near their people to leaping from shelf to shelf, and a gentle game is usually plenty of exercise. Their long, silky coat needs daily brushing to prevent mats, which form quickly in fur that fine. Because of their face shape, they can have watery eyes and sometimes breathing sensitivity, so it's good to keep them out of hot sun and talk to your vet about routine care.

For a costume with a vest and bandana, check the fit carefully. The bandana should be loose enough for two fingers to slip under the knot, or better yet use a breakaway style, and the vest shouldn't restrict her shoulders. A hat is the trickiest piece: if it stays on with a loose strap and doesn't bother her ears, a minute or two for a picture is plenty. Long-haired cats can get tangled in cloth, so brush her out before dress-up and remove the outfit right after.

The sheriff holds her pose bravely, hat and all. It is a tough job, but somebody has to guard the porch.
