A Yellow Lab Claimed the Pumpkin Wagon as His Personal Ride
A red wagon is piled high with pumpkins of all sizes, and right in the middle sits a yellow Labrador with a gentle, happy face. His ears are soft, his dark eyes are warm, and his mouth is open in a relaxed smile. A few dry leaves have landed among the pumpkins, and behind the wagon a porch holds boots, a doormat, a bundle of corn stalks, and pots of orange mums. It looks as though the dog was meant to be the biggest and best pumpkin in the load. Let's call him Gus.
Labrador Retrievers are among the most popular dogs in the United States for good reason. They are friendly, eager to please, and generally good with families, and they love activity, especially anything involving water or a ball. They are also famous for their appetites, so portion control and regular exercise matter to keep them at a healthy weight. Their sociable nature means a Lab usually hates being left out, which explains why he's sitting right on the wagon.
Pumpkins themselves are fairly dog-friendly: plain, fresh pumpkin is a gentle ingredient that vets often mention, but the stem, rind, and a whole pumpkin are hard to digest and can cause stomach upset or blockage if swallowed. Decorative pumpkins can also have mold or have been treated with sprays or paint, so it's best not to let a dog chew them. A quick wagon ride for a photo is no problem, but keep an eye on him so he doesn't start nibbling the cargo.
Gus doesn't seem to mind sharing the wagon with so many pumpkins. He looks like the happiest delivery ever made.
