A Yorkie in Black Bat Wings Guarded the Steps as the Lights Came On
Evening has settled in, and a small Yorkshire Terrier sits on the porch steps in a pair of black bat wings. His silky fur is a mix of steel blue and tan, his dark round eyes are fixed on the camera, and his little ears stand tall and alert. The wings are fastened with thin straps that run across his chest. Behind him, the porch is lined with pumpkins and a pot of orange mums, a warm lamp glows in the doorway, and a pair of sneakers sit near the steps. Let's call him Batty.
Yorkies are small terriers with a big, bold personality. They're known for being brave, loyal, and curious, and for having long, silky hair that's closer to human hair than fur. That coat needs regular brushing to prevent tangles and mats, and many owners choose a short trim to keep it easy. They are quite fragile compared with larger dogs, so careful handling and a harness rather than a collar are often recommended, since small dogs can have delicate necks and tracheas.
Bat wings are a simple costume, and a good one if you want a dog to stay comfortable. They sit lightly on the back and leave the head and legs free. Even so, check the straps for a loose, comfortable fit, avoid anything that might rub under the arms, and keep the outfit on only for a short time. Reward your dog with praise and a treat, and watch for signs of stress like trembling, licking his lips, or trying to back away.
Batty looks steady and alert in his wings, ready for the evening. Small, brave, and winged, he guards the porch like a champion.
